Why have this site?
Our son was diagnosed with Rubinstein-Taybi Syndrome in 2008. Like any other parents, we wanted to know as much as we could about RTS.
We found there were several groups concerned with RTS in other countries, but we had trouble finding information focused on Australia.
Through the worldwide RTS mailing list we connected with some other families in Australia with children who have RTS. Meeting other parents and sharing ideas with them was a fantastic experience.
So, the idea for this website was born.
Welcome to RTS Australia.
Our goal is to construct a website that encourages communication between parents, carers and friends of people with Rubinstein-Taybi Syndrome.
A site where people can exchange ideas with others who've "been there and done that" as well as those families new to RTS.
Our website does not officially represent or advocate for people living with Rubinstein-Taybi Syndrome in Australia. As far as we know at the moment, there are possibly too few RTS families in Australia to make a true 'organisation' a reality.
We don't know just how many people there are in Australia who have been diagnosed with Rubinstein-Taybi Syndrome. Hopefully this site will go a little way towards finding out!
Current Project:
We'd really like to add a "Who We Are" section to this site. Our goal being a series of pages introducing our Australian RTS children.
We've created a page for our son James to give you an idea of what such a page could look like.
If you'd like your family to take part please email us for more details.
